Play Dough
What you need
- 2 cups of plain flour
- 4 tablespoons of cream of tartar
- 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
- 1 cup of salt
- 2 cups boiling water
- Food colouring – optional
- Essences(lemon, peppermint, fudge) – optional
- Spices(cinnamon, cloves etc) – optional
- Cocoa powder (for mud dough)
How to do it
Add the flour, cream of tartar, cooking oil, salt and you choice of colouring along with any essence or spices. Mix together, do not add anything else to the mix, it may look quite wet and sticky as you mix but as it dries it will stiffen. Take out of the bowl and knead to finish.
Gloop
What you need
- Cornflour
- Water
- Food colouring (optional)
- Flavoured essence (optional)
How to do it
Combine the water and cornflour until the desired consistency is achieved. Colouring and essence can also be added if required.
Ice marbles
What you need
- Balloons
- Water
- Food colouring
- A freezer!
How to do it
Place a few drops of colouring into the bottom of your balloon. Place the neck of the balloon over your tap. Fill to the size required, tie off the balloon, shake it and place it in the freezer overnight.
Ice figures/animals
What you need
- Balloons or small containers/cups
- Water
- Animals or figures
- A freezer!
How to do it
This can be done two ways, push the smaller figures into the balloon or place them in a plastic cup or small container. Fill with water and place in the freezer overnight.
Rainbow rice
What you need
- Rice
- Food colouring
How to do it
Divide your rice into bowls. Add a few drops of colouring to your bowl and mix until all the grains are coated. Leave to dry, mixing occasionally.
